Chili Cook Off

What a great time of fun, fellowship, and great food. Thanks to all who joined us and helped to raise funds toward the completion of our new Soldiers Gymnasium. Congrats to Mrs. Grant whose chili was voted #1.

PTO Scrip Program

Going to the grocery this week? Eating on the go? Need a quick gift? Purchase your gift cards from Anderson Christian School’s PTO. You get the full value of the card and ACS PTO gets a percentage from Great Lakes Scrip. Order forms are sent home weekly or can be picked up in the school office. They are due in the office on Monday mornings. Forget something? A limited number of cards are also available for purchase at the school. Visit http://www.glscrip.com for a complete list of participating retailers!

Recycle Empty Printer Cartridges

We are now working with Empties4cash in the recyclingof donated inkjet cartridges with print heads. We are also continuing our partnership with Cartridges for Kids. Donated laser cartridges and inkjet cartridges without print heads are being sent to this recycler. Used cell phones are also accepted. Please continue to bring your cartridges for recycling to the school lobby. We appreciate and encourage the involvement of businesses and individuals as well as members of the ACS family. Contact Mrs. Kim Vallance for more information.

Science Fair News

Each fall semester students in fifth through eighth grades conduct a science experiment following the scientific method.  After students research their chosen topics, they form hypotheses and purposes as well as creating procedures to test their hypotheses.  The information the students discover during the course of their investigations are then charted and graphed before students reach final conclusions.  These projects are then entered into the Anderson Christian School Science Fair.  Students who earn first, second, or third place are then eligible to participate in the East Central Indiana Regional Competition at Ball State University.

March 1, 2008, Anderson Christian School was represented at the regional competition by Carly Wilson, fifth grade; Joshua Vallance, sixth grade; and Tommy Snell, seventh grade.  Evan Dulaney,  a sixth grade student who had been registered to attend, was unable to participate due to illness.  After presenting their exhibits to the various judges, Joshua earned third place with his project, “Which Will Make a Plant Grow Faster, Water or Gatorade?” and Carly earned second place with her project, “Warm Up to Sing.”

Congratulations to all students who successfully completed a Science Fair project this year with special congratulations going to Josh and Carly!
